We’ve heard the adjectives “isolated,” “peaceful,” and “remote” thrown around one too many times to trust the descriptions some supposedly out-of-the-way hotels offer. You may have been met with the unfortunate scenario of looking forward to a getaway, only to arrive and find a resort in a spot heavily populated by tourists with the same idea in mind.
The Jade Resort Residences & Beach Club http://www.jademanuelantonio.com (branded under Wyndham) in Costa Rica sounds like it might be the real deal, though. What makes Jade different, at least from the sneak peek details we’re privy to, is the fact that it’s one of the first major developments in a quiet, relatively untouched region known as Manuel Antonio.
From Costa Rica’s capital city, San Jose, visitors have to traverse a one way road to reach the destination—a journey which take about seven to eight hours, or a 20-minute plane ride. In many ways, Jade will be in the middle of nowhere, but not scarily secluded. It will be located next to Manuel Antonio National Park, the country’s most prized national sanctuary.
As far as the resort’s accommodations go, we’ve been told to expect a private beach club, access to the region’s only “lazy” river, a 2,000 square foot fitness center, and 240 residences and guest rooms.
A legitimate concern might be the introduction of a resort to a mainly undeveloped area of the country, so it will be interesting to see what kind of tourist attention Jade garners upon opening in Fall/Winter of 2010, and what the effects on Manuel Antonio are. For now, it can legitimately say will be one of the most outlying hotels on the international scene.
